The Art of Invitation - Creative Engagement for Ourselves and Our Communities
Friday, May 9, 2014
We are delighted to be leading a course at Schumacher College later this summer: The Art of Invitation - Creative Engagement for Ourselves and Our Communities (4 – 8 August 2014)
The course will provide a creative space for people from all walks of life to look at examples of where projects have engaged and energised people in formal and informal spaces. The group will look at effective ways to bring groups of people together and maintain their involvement in projects focused on social change and addressing ecological challenges.
Activating participation is an essential craft, and the course leaders will look at a range of approaches to inviting people to Join In. Participants on the course will be learning by doing and will leave having developed their own plans, activities and skills for change for their own projects, organisations and communities.
Ruth Ben-Tovim (Encounters Creative Director) and Anne-Marie Culhane (Encounters Associate) will lead the course with contributions from Lucy Neal, Alan Bolden, Sarah Woods and Farzana Khan.
Schumacher College brings together leading international thinkers, activists and practitioners, for small-group transformative learning experiences. There is a focus on interactive, participatory and transformative learning for sustainable living.
