ABOUT ENCOUNTERS

Encounters' Creative Director is Ruth Ben-Tovim working with a team of Creative Associates; Ben Ballard, Anne-Marie Culhane, Teo Greenstreet, Sophie Hunter, Jo McGain, Ruth Nutter, Toni Spencer, Ben Yeger.

Together we are a group of artists, facilitators, sustainability innovators, creative educators, cultural translators and change agents.

Drawing on the experience of Encounters and the skills of its core team and associates, we offer creative, participatory processes that enable people to explore new stories to live by on individual, local, city wide and global levels. These stories are often then retold to a wider community through performance, public events, workshops, exhibitions, public art, publications and uniquely tailor-made events.

Encounters focuses on creating spaces and processes for people from all walks of life to re-look at who and how they are in the world at this time of ecological crisis and opportunity.

Since 2010 Encounters have been based in Devon, on the Dartington Estate in Totnes. We work locally, nationally and internationally.

Encounters was formed by artists Ruth Ben-Tovim and Trish O'Shea in 2003 when they took over and created the first Encounters Shops in Sharrow, Sheffield.
