The Art Of Invitation
Encounters core creative team have over 45 years of combined experience of delivering high quality creative community engagement work. In 2015 we piloted a week long workshop at Schumacher College in order to begin to pass on this experience through training and consultancy. A dynamic and inspiring group of participants gathered at the world renowned Schumacher College and we look forward to delivering other similarly creative experience’s this year.
We have been invited to Norway to run an Art of Invitation workshop at Gallery Room as part of Repair a year long project at the gallery exploring how art practices can influence the shaping of society and physical world around us.
Activating participation is an essential craft The Art of Invitation shares a range of approaches to invite people to Join In. Participants learn by doing and develop their own plans, activities and skills for change for their own projects, organisations and communities.

Join us for creative exploration through sessions focusing on inspiring case studies, specialist workshops and presentations from contributors. This will be combined with practical group work, celebration, solo reflection time, and 1:1 mentoring to develop individual practice and process.
Participants are encouraged to bring their own project ideas, plans and experiences as material to develop within the course. At the end of the week you will come away with new creative tools for change that can resource you and the projects, communities and organisations that you are involved with and give you the confidence and skills to create new ones.
The Art of Invitation facilitators are; Ruth Ben-Tovim, Anne Marie Culhane and Lucy Neal, all pioneering artists who have developed unique approaches to inviting people to respond to the social and ecological challenges of our times. Their work spans creative projects in formal and informal spaces, working with communities, activists, politicians, policy makers, service providers, educators, seeking to develop and create change.
